What is fpa/fuel price adjustment in the Electricity Bill Pakistan?

The acronym FPA represents Fuel and Power Purchase Adjustment, an element of the electricity bill that indicates the expense of fuel and power obtained by the power distribution company to produce electricity. The FPA fee is determined by the fluctuations in the cost of fuel and power purchased, and it is displayed as a separate charge on the electricity bill. This charge is passed on to the consumer without any additional markup by the power company.

How to calculate fpa in Electricity Bill?

The FPA or Fuel and Power Purchase Adjustment on an electricity bill is typically calculated by multiplying the difference between the actual fuel and power cost and the base cost by the total number of units consumed. This result is then added to the base tariff and displayed as a separate charge on the electricity bill. The exact formula and calculation method may vary depending on the electricity provider and the region’s regulatory framework.

How to calculate Electricity Units?

Electricity units are calculated by multiplying the power consumption in kilowatts (kW) by the number of hours of usage. For example, if an appliance has a power rating of 1 kW and is used for 5 hours, it will consume 5 units of electricity (1 kW x 5 hours = 5 kWh). The exact method of calculating units may vary depending on the type of meter and tariff structure.
